Site trailer – Paukku: Part 1!

Our project started to materialize last summer when we bought this beauty of a trailer from a guy who builds trailers as a side hustle. He had bought an old and moldy trailer, demolished it and only kept the chassis. On the chassis he had then build new frame from wood and insulated it with Finfoam (XPS). And at this point we bought it.

First hassle was getting our new beauty, later named Paukku (roughly translates to Lump), home. And as this was not thoroughly planned purchase but an opportunity that arose while we were traveling for friend’s wedding we ended up being on the road with an electric car. We ended up needing three charging breaks for the car and spent around 10 hours on the trip – normally it would take around seven hours. And all the way we had to listen Paukku being banged by the load straps. Thankfully Paukku didn’t fall apart but proved to be a tough lump, and by some miracle we were not stopped by the police. The seller had attached brake lights on it so from that perspective Paukku was legal, however the bi-yearly inspection hadn’t been done. Then again it was a Sunday and none of the places doing those were open. We did see two police cars on the way and they weren’t bothered.

Paukku’s transformation into respectable site trailer started couple months later with the addition of some wooden bars to assure structural integrity and to help with the attachment of both outer and inner layers.

More posts on Paukku’s journey coming up later!

I’ve never heard of an AI called that but nevertheless no AI was used in making this post. The pictures were taken by me and edited quickly with Layout app (to bundle them up) and the texts were written by Elina and edited/proof-read by myself.
